Just another personal website that is not entirely unlike the sort I made on GeoCities in the 1990s!
What's Happening Now?
First week back at work passed! While it took a bit to come back up to speed, I think I'm getting there. It turns out that getting older also means that things don't necessarily pivot as quickly as they once might have.
Kathleen and I went to Ottawa Comic-Con yesterday for the first time. ...and probably the last time (unless someone like Lucy Lawless shows up). In the end, it just wasn't a venue for us, being quite busy. Many of our favourite tables in Artists' Alley were vendors we can purchase goods from at markets that don't cost $60 (each) to attend.
Cosplay is a central feature of these things and, where there is cosplay, there is licence for playing things a little loose with the gender of the character one has chosen. I hate the metaphor, but Comic-Con was eggy and I was treated to a number of looks from attendees. Looks that I recognize since I used to give them to out trans women long before crawling out of the pit myself. A saucer-eyed mix of longing and terror.
Music On Repeat
Whether it's at home or at work, much of the time, I am listening to KEXP. I even put their annual donor sticker on my laptop.
